Supplements

There are a variety of vitamins, minerals, and nutritional supplements that I will suggest clients may want to try based upon symptoms and lab results.

They include:

Vitamin D3- Current mindset on D3 is that it may not be a vitamin but work as more of a hormone.  D3 can help with energy, immune function promotes gut repair, as well as many other health benefits.

Vitamins A, E and C: These are some of the important antioxidant vitamins that our bodies need to repair oxidative stress from the immune system fighting infection and/or from normal metabolic processes. Lifestyle and environmental factors influence the amount of these vitamins the body requires. Spending a little extra time with the client asking questions helps me determine when these supplements may be helpful.

B Vitamins: B vitamins are so critical to many biochemical reactions. They range from production of important mood-stabilizing compounds like serotonin and dopamine to detoxification reactions in the liver. Symptoms clients are experiencing will give me an understanding of which B vitamins may be lacking.

Clients may need to adjust dosages to find the one that is appropriate for them. I rely on years of experience, client feedback, and extensive knowledge of how to best bring the body back into the rest and repair state.

Supplementation is intended to bridge the nutritional gap so that we maintain the proper balance of nutrients from food and supplementation.

Healthy Food

Every time you eat is an opportunity to nourish your body.

Healthy Fats

Omega 3 fatty acids- These types of fats, especially EPA and DHA, are very important in brain function and help improve gut health as well. They are also important in turning off the pro-inflammatory state of the body and induce rest and repair.  Dosages are unique to each client and can be tailored based on lab results.  Finding a high-quality source of these nutrients is critical.  I work with reputable companies whose brands I trust and offer those products to clients.

Herbal Medicine

Came from a plant, eat it!

Made in a plant, don't!

Minerals

Off the shelf supplements are not all the same.  Some forms, especially when it comes to minerals, are more readily available to the body than others.  My biochemistry knowledge base and my past client experience help me determine specific minerals including zinc, magnesium, calcium, and others as well as the dosages for each client.  I only recommend companies who use the latest research in their formulations and avoid harmful fillers in their products.

There are also very valuable herbal and nutritional supplements that aid in gut healing such as slippery elm, marshmallow root, aloe and L-glutamine. Using supplements such as these can help soothe an irritated intestinal lining to reduce inflammation and promote repair.
